Sunderland boss rules out move for Spurs ace due to Premier League rules

Sam Allardyce has ruled out a move for out of favour Tottenham winger Andros Townsend next month, report the Sunderland Echo.

The England international had been linked with a raft of Premier League clubs after falling down the pecking order at White Hart Lane under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

However, Black Cats boss Allardyce has poured cold water over suggestions the 24-year old could be in line for a move to Wearside when the transfer window reopens in January.

The 61-year old has rubbished reports he could look to take the winger on loan, due to the fact the Stadium of Light outfit already have DeAndre Yedlin in the squad on a temporary basis from Spurs.

Premier League regulations state that only one player from a parent club can be borrowed at one time.

Allardyce had previously claimed he would only be interested in looking into the loan market this January as he battles relegation with Sunderland.
