Durham is known for coming out with some of the most sensationalist opinions you are likely to hear on national radio.
And, in April, he revealed that he felt that Spurs had every chance of winning the Champions League.
Speaking on the channel ahead of the club’s dramatic quarter-final second leg victory over Manchester City, Durham told talkSPORT, via This is Futbol: “So Spurs, four good games away from winning the Champions League, all they’ve got to do is keep a clean sheet tonight.
“Then it’s Ajax and that’s a cruise across two legs, then possibly Liverpool in the final, Spurs can beat Liverpool, can’t they? Spurs are going to win the Champions League.
“It’s in their own hands.”
Spurs lost the first leg of their semi-final against Ajax 1-0 but know that a two-goal victory in Amsterdam will send them through.
Now, however, Durham has changed his tune despite watching Liverpool overturn a 3-0 deficit against Barcelona to seal their progression to the final.
Indeed, he has all but written Spurs off, saying: “Tottenham will never win the Champions League, well never win it this season.”
As if one needed proof that Durham only ever lives in the moment.
He clearly doesn’t listen to his own shows as, if he did, he surely wouldn’t be contradicting himself.
In fact, his claim has been lent more weight by the result on Tuesday, as he claimed that Spurs could beat Liverpool in the final.
Why, then, is he now writing them off?
Perhaps it’s because he views himself as a “shock jock”, merely saying what he thinks is controversial to get people to tune in.
What he has done here, though, is slap an egg over his own face.
