Trying to keep track of the amount of footballers linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur probably resembles something of an impossible task, such is the unrelenting glut of names regularly touted for a move to White Hart Lane.
But for those hoping that Harry Redknapp – English football’s Don Corleone of the transfer window – leaving the club would spell an end to the continuous transfer silly season that fans seem to have been subjected to, then you’d unfortunately be painfully mistaken. Because while you might not have to put up with too many heads hanging out the side of Range Rovers any more, supporters still have to endure a steady slew of transfer links.
Yet while the club went on to tie up a fair few deals over the course of the past few Premier League transfer windows, they’ve also failed to attain several – often extremely high-profile players – that have been linked to the club. And for every banana skin ultimately dodged, there is a deal that you imagine both Andre Villas-Boas and chairman Daniel Levy are kicking themselves that they let get away.
