I have always been a big fan of Scott Parker, and indeed, after coming back from injury he has played well on occasion this season.
But the tireless midfielder in many ways represents a dying breed, and at the age of 32, his era is coming to an end.
Spurs already have a wide berth of like-minded central midfielders at their disposal, including Jake Livermore, Sandro, Moussa Dembele and Tom Huddlestone, and it’s an imbalance in the squad that has to be addressed, as it can free up money for inward transfers in other departments – most likely a new striker.
Similarly, with Joao Moutinho widely expected to be brought in to White Hart Lane over the course of the summer, Parker will naturally begin to start sliding down the pecking order.
The former England international is a well-experienced and talented professional however, and should fetch a decent fee to add to the transfer kitty should he be moved on in the summer.
