Spurs man Harry Kane is confident his difficult start to the season is indeed just a blip and that he will rediscover his best goalscoring form soon.

Everything he touched pretty much flew into the back of the net last season as he appeared to all to to be a striker capable of performing week in, week out in the Premier League. However, so far in the early matches of this season it has been a very different story for Kane.

He has looked as a shadow of the player he was last season. Kane is struggling to find that form and he is clearly desperate for it to return with snatching at chances he would have taken in a relaxed manner just a few months ago commonplace.

However, you wouldn't have known that he is a man who hadn't scored in four games for Spurs when he notched a fine effort against San Marino on Saturday. He calmly took a touch before dinking it over the on rushing keeper into an unguarded net. Lovely.

It was like the Kane of last season, however, in truth that player never disappeared, his form just dropped. His demeanour and what he said in a recent England press conference showed that his recent poor form wasn't bothering the striker to much.

Nevertheless it is true a 30 goal wonder-season does bring with it forensic analysis of every game, every performance and, as Kane is finding out, every shot off target.

"That was always going to be the case" he explained, when asked about the heightened scrutiny.

Before giving a gentle reminder that this time last year he wasn't even playing: "This time last season I wasn't even starting in the Premier League".

It's true. Kane made his first Premier League start on November 9th against Stoke City, although he had already reached double figures courtesy of goals in the Europa League and the Capital One Cup.

It was clear that he couldn't be left on the bench anymore. He got into the team and has stayed there ever since. He scored in his second start against Hull, but failed to score in his next four games before a remarkable run of sensational form followed.

He scored against Swansea, Newcastle, Burnley and Leicester City. Manchester United kept him at bay in the final game of 2014, but New Year's Day saw two goals in that staggering 5-3 win over the eventual champions, Chelsea. From January to March he scored another 15 for club and country.

Kane is all too aware of the fact that goals come in bunches, saying: "As a striker you're going to have spells where you're on fire and everything you touch turns to gold, and other times it doesn't go your way. I'm very focused and confident in my own ability, and as long as I keep doing my own thing the goals will come."

That is exactly it, if he keeps plugging away the goals will come and knowing the way Kane scores his goals, there will be a fair few, too.
