Southampton play host to Tottenham and their former manager Mauricio Pochettino in the Premier League at St. Mary’s three days after Christmas. As well as the Argentine boss, former Saints Toby Alderweireld and Victor Wanyama will also be making a return to the south coast as seventh welcome fifth.Claude Puel’s side have picked up seven points from a possible nine, which will have boosted morale following their disappointing Europa League exit against Hapoel Be’er Sheva, while the north London outfit saw comfortable home wins against Hull City and Burnley sandwiched by a defeat at Manchester United's Old Trafford. The Saints have become synonymous for selling their top stars for big fees in recent years with clubs such as Spurs often taking a very close look at – and in the case of Wanyama, buying – the ones who could make a difference for them. Here are THREE Southampton players that we at FootballFanCast believe would fit in at Spurs…

The Moroccan joined the Saints for a club-record fee of £16m during the summer and despite spending the majority of the season on the sidelines through injury, the forward has come into the side in recent weeks and shown glimpses of what he is all about.

Comfortable on the ball and able to twist and turn at the drop of a hat, Boufal has that ability to get fans off of their seats and he would certainly fit in well at Spurs in that respect, offering a major threat in the final third.

Ryan Bertrand

The Saints and England left-back is one of the club’s most consistent performers and in a season where they have struggled to score goals, Bertrand has come up with some important efforts in recent weeks.

The former Chelsea man joked with teammate Charlie Austin that he is the best finisher at the club, and he has gone some way to showing that he is at least in contention after a brilliant strike in the EFL Cup quarter-final win against Arsenal and the equaliser in the 3-1 success against Bournemouth.

The goal threat he has proved he can provide, his ability to assist from the left-hand side and his defensive capabilities mean that he would fit perfectly into this current Spurs side.

Virgil van Dijk

The Dutchman has been colossal at the back for Southampton ever since he joined them from Celtic in the summer of 2015, and he has captained the team on occasions – including the 3-1 win at Bournemouth – when Jose Fonte has been absent.

As well as being brilliant at the back and in the air, Van Dijk is also comfortable on the ball and that is a quality that Mauricio Pochettino likes his defenders to have.

Spurs beat the Saints to the signing of Toby Alderweireld in 2015 and they would surely love to take Van Dijk to White Hart Lane to link up with the Belgian.
