Tottenham announced on Friday that star man Harry Kane had signed a new six-year deal worth £200,000-a-week, including bonuses, according to The Guardian, as chairman Daniel Levy finally smashed through his previous wage ceiling.

The often much-maligned 56-year-old had previously refused to pay players anything more than around the £100,000-a-week mark – a figure The Guardian says Kane used to be on – but now he has loosened the purse strings ahead of the north London outfit's move into their new stadium.

It was always going to happen if Spurs, who should sign a player who made 121 key passes in 2017/18 instead of Jack Grealish, are to push on and challenge for their first-ever Premier League title as well as competing in the Champions League, and Levy was well aware that he also needs to match manager Mauricio Pochettino's ambitions.

Now the Kane contract is over the line, focus will surely turn to who the Argentine boss wants to bring to the club before the window slams shut on August 9, and the latest Levy action means that they can now target world-class stars they perhaps couldn't have done previously.

Here are three superstars Tottenham should sign on £200,000-a-week deals like Kane's…

If Spurs do lose Toby Alderweireld this summer with no progress in talks over a new deal, they will surely want to bring in a top-class replacement for the Belgium international.

There aren't a whole host of defenders around that can match that criteria, but perhaps they could persuade Paris Saint-Germain's Marquinhos to move to the Premier League.

The 23-year-old Brazil international is a key player for the Ligue 1 giants, and earns €200,000-a-week (around £175,000-a-week) according to Total Sportek, and if Spurs can convince PSG to sell and offered the player the same money that Kane is on, then a deal could be possible.

Reports have suggested that Pochettino could be ready to offload Moussa Sissoko, Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele this summer if they receive acceptable offers for the trio, which would suggest that the Argentine boss is looking to bring a new central midfielder to the club this summer.

If the 46-year-old could get an upgrade on Dembele he would be delighted, and he could well do that if he can persuade Bayern Munich star Thiago Alcantara to come to the Premier League.

Well-connected Bild journalist Christian Falk says that the Spain international wants to leave the Bundesliga giants, and a £200,000-a-week contract offer could convince him to reject any other offers and join Spurs.

After shining in the Champions League final by scoring two goals from the substitutes; bench – and following Zinedine Zidane's departure – things are suddenly looking up for the Wales international again after his Real career looked to be in doubt.

He may well still leave the La Liga outfit this summer following his comments after the win against Liverpool, and it would be no surprise if he felt that he had some unfinished business in the Premier League, and with Tottenham in particular.

According to TotalSportek, the 29-year-old is currently in £300,000-a-week at Real, and while he would need to take a significant wage decrease if he was to return to Spurs, £200,000-a-week and the chance to work under Pochettino could be enough of an incentive.
