Spurs snapped up Mitchell, a former Wigan Athletic and MK Dons player, from Southampton in summer 2014 due to his strong working relationship with former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino.

The 34-year-old played a key role in Southampton’s rise from League One to the Premier League and since moving to White Hart Lane has helped secure deals for the likes of Vincent Janssen and Victor Wanyama.

According to The Daily Mail, Leicester City are now targeting Mitchell as a replacement for Steve Walsh, who left the King Power Stadium earlier this summer to work with Ronald Koeman at Everton.

They’re keen to open talks with Mitchell over a role in the East Midlands and he’s reportedly aware of the Foxes’ interest.
