Sunderland’s hopes of keeping defender Danny Rose next season look to have been thwarted by Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas.
The Spurs boss has apparently decided that he wants the young defender to return to White Hart Lane when his current loan at the Stadium of Light comes to an end in the summer.
The 22-year-old, who scored his first goal for the Black Cats in Monday night’s defeat at Aston Villa, had hinted that he would like to stay in the north east after stating that he would make a decision at the end of the season.
Villas-Boas has told Rose he wants him back as he has had problems at left-back this season and has often played Kyle Naughton and Jan Vertonghen in the role as Benoit Assou-Ekotto has struggled for consistency.
