Tottenham boss insists Champions League hopes are not gone

Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood confessed that his side’s 1-0 loss away at Norwich is a “dent” in their push for Champions League qualification, although he feels they are not out of the running yet.

Spurs slipped to a shock loss at Carrow Road thanks to a Robert Snodgrass goal, in what was a disappointing afternoon for the Londoners.

With their main rivals in the battle for the top four Liverpool having won 4-3 against Swansea, the pressure was on Sherwood’s men to close the Reds’ gap back to three points in the hunt for fourth.

But the defeat instead leaves them six adrift – with the Anfielders’ hugely superior goal difference effectively adding another one onto the deficit.

But Sherwood – whose side host struggling Cardiff next in domestic action – says that his team are firmly in the hunt for Champions League qualification:

“It’s a dent, we’re still in it. We’re still looking up rather than behind. We’ve got two home games now and we need to bounce back – that’s what good teams do,” he told Sky Sports.

“That’s what players with real spirit do and we’ve got to see what we have in there.”
