Napoli president Aurello De Laurentiis has confirmed they have made an approach for Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas.
Napoli manager Walter Mazzarri has walked out of the club despite his success last season and they have begun the search for a new man at the helm.
Villas-Boas has seen his stock rise despite Spurs failing to achieve their goal of Champions League qualification at the end of last season.
In quotes in a Portuguese newspaper DN, De Laurentiis, when asked whether they had made an approach for the Spurs manager, said: “Yes. There is a very tempting argument to hire a young coach here.”
There are plenty of other names in the frame and it is unlikely that Spurs will lose their manager as long as he is given the assurances about transfer funds so he can strengthen his current squad.
