According to French publication L'Equipe, Tottenham's out-of-favour winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou is closing in on a move to Besiktas this summer.

What's the word?

After signing for Mauricio Pochettino's side back in the summer of 2016 for a reported £9m from French side Marseille, it's fair to say Nkoudou has struggled to make a significant impression in north London.

The 24-year-old has barely featured for the club and has spent the majority of the previous two campaigns on loan at Burnley and AS Monaco respectively. Now, L'Equipe claim Spurs and Besiktas are nearing an agreement that will see him make a permanent move to Turkey.

Out of his misery

When Nkoudou arrived at Spurs, he came off the back of a campaign at Marseille that saw him net ten goals in 41 games across all competitions. The winger had proven himself to be a goal-scoring threat and his pace and dribbling skills marked him out as an intriguing prospect for Pochettino's team.

Indeed, speaking after making his move, the former France U21 international said: "I can't wait to get to know the Premier League and the English game. It suits my playing style, it's explosive. Everyone knows I'm fast, I like to dribble around players so the English league is best for me."

Instead, Nkoudou has faded into the shadows and Pochettino has admitted on several occasions that he simply has too many players ahead of the Frenchman in the pecking order.

The north London side reached the Champions League final last season, and are hoping to mount a Premier League title challenge this year. For Nkoudou's sake, the 24-year-old would be better off moving elsewhere to get a chance of regular first-team football, and that would be the best outcome for all parties.
