Tottenham eye £60m triple swoop

Spurs are keen to kick off a £60m triple swoop by beating Monday’s transfer deadline to nab Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez, according to reports from The Sun.

Although the England international is wanted before the current window comes to a close, the Londoners will dip back into the market at the end of the season to land ex-Newcastle man Yohan Cabaye from PSG and his French compatriot Aymeric Laporte.

Rodriguez is currently recovering from a serious knee injury suffered at the back end of last season, but that has not deterred Mauricio Pochettino.

The now Spurs chief worked with the ex-Burnley man at St Mary’s last term, overseeing his rise from a promising attacker to a senior international thanks to his impressive showings alongside now Liverpool duo Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana.

Rodriguez has been valued at around £20m in the past, and Tottenham are ready to push their spend to close to £60m in the summer with Cabaye and Laporte.

The ex-Newcastle man is understood to be considering his future at the Parc des Princes, while Laporte, a centre-back, has been linked with moves away from Athletic Bilbao of late.
