Tottenham eye double striker swoop

QPR forward Loic RemyTottenham are plotting summer moves for Valencia’s Roberto Soldado and Loic Remy of QPR, according to reports from the Daily Star.

Spurs were said to have made Aston Villa ace Christian Benteke their main striker target, but have been shocked by his decision to withdraw his transfer request and extend his contract at Villa Park.

This revelation has forced Andre Villas-Boas to look elsewhere as he endeavours to improve his side’s goalgetting ability, and the Portuguese coach has turned his attention to Remy and Soldado.

Spaniard Soldado has been on AVB’s radar for some time, and could be available for a discount price in the coming months.

Valencia are currently embroiled in a state of financial turmoil, which may force the sales of high-profile players.

At £20m, Soldado is, arguably, their most valuable asset, and is within Spurs’ budget restraints.

But, the north London club could instead make a move for Remy, who impressed during the back-end of 2012/13.

The Frenchman was lured to QPR in January, but could not provide the goals needed to drag the Super Hoops clear of relegation.

Despite this, he is still seen as a viable option for a number of Premier League clubs who were impressed by the glimpses of his ability they witnessed.

Remy is said to be available for around £10m, with QPR desperate to remove his vast earnings from their expenditure.
