Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Notts County youngster Kion Etete, per The Daily Mail.

The forward had a trial with Spurs this month, having signed his first professional contract with the League Two club on his 17th birthday.

What's the word?

Etete enjoyed a productive trial with Spurs, scoring twice in a 5-3 win over West Ham United.

And The Daily Mail report that he will be monitored by the club over the coming weeks as they weigh up the possibility of a summer deal.

Etete has already made his senior debut for County, playing four times in League Two, as well as once in the FA Cup and once in the Checkatrade Trophy.

The teenager was just 16 when he made his debut for the club and then-manager Harry Kewell was impressed with what he saw.

Per the Nottingham Post, he said: "Kion was excellent.

“He held the ball up well, gave us an outlet and made life difficult for their defenders."

The Daily Mail also claim that Nottingham Forest have been linked with a potential bid for the forward.

Another Alli?

This move would make all the sense in the world for Spurs.

Mauricio Pochettino is seemingly targeting home-grown players who can learn and grow under his management, just as Dele Alli has done since joining the club from MK Dons in 2015.

Alli was a key part of England's World Cup squad in the summer and has also become indispensable to the north London outfit's starting XI.

There is no guarantee that lightning will strike twice with Etete but this could be a low-risk-high-reward move.

If it doesn't work, the teenager will have had his profile raised merely because he has played for Spurs; if it goes the other way, Pochettino has another English star on his hands.
