Andre Villas-Boas is reported to have relinquished his interest in the Bosnian, but may well require a replacement for Gareth Bale, if a move to Real Madrid materialises for the Welshman.
Atletico Madrid are also thought to hold an interest in Pjanic though, and are not short financially after selling Radamel Falcao to Monaco for something in the region of £50m-£60m.
The 23-year-old, however, recently told Italian sports website Tuttomercatoweb that he is fully focused on the new season at Roma.
“The atmosphere is good, we are working well and we will give our best to produce a better season than last year,” he said.
Pjanic started his career at French side Metz, where he played 32 times before moving to Lyon.
He played 132 times for them, scoring 16 goals, before a move to Roma in 2011 for a fee reported to be around £9.5million.
In the Italian capital he has appeared 60 times, scoring seven times. Last season he scored three goals in 27 Serie A appearances.
His international career began with appearances for Luxembourg’s youth teams, after spending his early teens living in the tiny country.
He has since appeared 40 times for Bosnia’s national side.
