Tottenham face competition for Samba star

Leandro-Damiao (Internacional)Tottenham with have to see off interest from Zenit Saint Petersburg if they are to secure a deal for Internacional striker Leandro Damiao, according to reports from The Express.

Spurs have been chasing the Brazilian international for some time, and even had a bid rejected for his signature in January.

Andre Villas-Boas was believed to be keen to make another move for the 24-year-old over the summer, but instead opted to sign Roberto Soldado from Valencia.

However he is still believed to be keen on Damiao, with the futures of Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe far from clear.

But, Zenit are now interested and are keen to launch a January raid.

The Russians see Damiao as the perfect man to bolster their attacking options, and are attracted to the fact that he will be eligible to play in European competition.

The forward’s agent, Vincius Prates, revealed that his client would now consider a move to Zenit, after turning down the chance to join them during the last transfer window.

“Zenit were really interested in Leandro, but the proposal of the Russian club didn’t suit him,” Prates said.

“Leandro was not against a move to Zenit, as it is a very serious team, which has set big goals and includes some of the strongest players.”

Tottenham fans, should AVB push a move for Leandro Damiao?
