Toulouse are unprepared to let Etienne Capoue, reportedly on his way to Tottenham, slip away easily, and will continue to play the Frenchman, talkSPORT reports.
Spurs have supposedly agreed a £9million deal for the defensive midfielder, after stepping in ahead of Cardiff who thought they would be in a position to land the 25-year-old.
However, Toulouse are readying themselves for their Ligue 1 opener against Valenciennes this Saturday and have said that they will use Capoue though.
“Etienne Capoue is still a Toulouse player and he will play this weekend,” Manager Alain Casanova said.
Capoue, a French international with six caps to his name, having debuted against Uruguay last August, has played 196 times for Toulouse since breaking into their senior team at the end of 2007.
If Tottenham do manage to capture him, he will become the fourth summer signing at White Hart Lane.
Paulinho, signed for £17million from Corinthians, Nacer Chadli, bought for £7million from FC Twente, and Roberto Soldado, signed for £30million from Valencia, have already linked up with Andre Villas-Boas’ side.
Meanwhile, Gareth Bale‘s future continues to dominate the headlines as Real Madrid show no sign of relenting in their pursuit of the Welshman.
Fresh talks were held between Daniel Levy and Florentio Perez earlier this week, although little progress was said to have been made.
