Tottenham face transfer fight for Zenit ace

Domenico Criscito (Zenit Saint-Petersburg)Tottenham will have to go head-to-head with Inter Milan if they are to secure a January deal for Zenit Saint-Petersburg full-back Domenico Criscito, according to reports from talkSPORT.

Spurs have been tracking the Italian for some time, and were linked with a move for his signature over the summer.

After allowing Benoit Assou-Ekotto to leave White Hart Lane, manager Andre Villas-Boas is believed to be keen to draft in another left-back.

Danny Rose is currently the Portuguese coach’s only orthodox option in the role and, despite the youngster having made a solid start to the season, AVB is keen to bring in reinforcements.

A winter move has been mooted for some time, but Inter Milan are now also keen.

The Serie A giants are hopeful that they can lure the defender back to his homeland ahead of the 2014 World Cup as they look to build a side capable of challenging for the league title.

Criscito has just returned to action following a long-term knee injury, but is still thought of as one of Russian football’s top talents.

However, Zenit are said to be willing to listen to offers as they attempt to raise funds for a move for Anzhi Makhachkala striker Lacina Traore.

Do Spurs need another left-back? Or is Danny Rose more than capable in the role?
