Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have come out in support of chairman Daniel Levy following a report in The Daily Mail saying that the players will suffer a wage reduction and miss out on potential bonuses if they fail to qualify for next season's Champions League.

The Daily Mail says that the 57-year-old introduced an incentivised pay structure that rewards the squad when they are successful, but protects the north London outfit when things aren't going so well.

That is certainly the case right now with Spurs' campaign getting off to a dismal start, with them lying 13 points Premier League leaders Liverpool and having recently suffered a 7-2 home defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

It's fair to say that some of the Tottenham faithful haven't always seen eye-to-eye with Levy, but in this case many are backing him up – presumably as they feel their players shouldn't be rewarded for failure and below-par performances and results, which is something that has happened all to often in recent weeks.

While one fan replying to a Twitter thread about the story said "Levy comes up trumps again", another individual said "Levy = GOAT chairman" – an interesting viewpoint to call him the greatest of all time, certainly.

Here is just a selection of the reaction...
