Loads of Tottenham fans have been reacting to some comments from Mauricio Pochettino, as the boss defended Juan Foyth’s derby performance.
Tottenham’s impressive winning spree came to an abrupt end on Sunday, losing 4-2 at Arsenal in a game that could have seen even more goals.
Tottenham’s defending was shambolic at times, and fans can’t believe Pochettino’s decision to start Foyth over Toby Alderweireld.
Alderweireld has been in superb form since Jan Vertonghen got injured, and both the 31-year-old Belgian and Foyth were poor against Arsenal.
The Belgian veteran was at fault for the first goal and just seemed a step off the pace all afternoon, while the youngster’s decision-making and positioning was extremely worrying.

Pochettino clearly doesn’t see it that way though, and the boss has jumped to the defence of 20-year-old Foyth.
“How many players on halfway line miss the pass? A lot,” he said of Foyth’s mistake prior to the third Arsenal goal.
“And then it is 50 metres to arrive to the goal. Because he is young it is easy to blame him, it is easy.
“But for me, Juan was one of the best players on the pitch. If we put this pass that wasn’t good in that action out of the 90 minutes, by far was the best. By far.”
While it is certainly a good thing that the boss isn’t throwing his rising star under the bus, fans think his comments are a step too far.

Big game big call big consequences I’ve no doubt the players must have been surprised at the exclusion of Alderweirld plus subs didn’t happen quick enough the fault lies with the manager yesterday unfortunately

I don’t blame the player, I blame the manager for exposing him. He will wreck the lads confidence if he keeps on making mistakes every game. It was a shocking decision not to start Toby.

Should be a politician the way he can talk flannel. Far too late with subs as usual but most of the time he gets it right so ??♂️ just a bad day at the office

He definitely wasn’t one of the best players on the pitch! Poch took a gamble didn’t pay off, should of started with Toby #COYS
