Tottenham fans aren’t quite sure what to make of Lucas Moura, as the speedy winger struggled in the Premier League opener on Saturday.
With Son Heung-min heading off for the Asian Games, Mauricio Pochettino will likely have to rely on at least one of Moura or Erik Lamela in the opening weeks of the season.
The boss opted for the Brazilian at Newcastle on Saturday, but despite picking up three points his performance left a lot to be desired.
Since signing from PSG in January for around £25m, the 26 year-old has yet to register a Premier League goal, but he was fabulous in pre-season.
His pre-season heroics didn’t carry into the clash against Newcastle though, as he managed just one shot, one successful dribble and a 67 per cent pass success rate.
Fans are now split on Moura, as it’s clear there is a talented player there, but he just can’t seem to put it all together and deliver the end product when it matters.

Let’s hope he becomes our Mane

Did think he would give a bit extra yesterday. Game probably didn’t suit his style. Very scrappy but must do more.

Looking forward to seeing what he can do during his Burnley loan spell.

I did think Aurier and Sissoko kept stealing his space – hard to work on the right with those two!

Bit harsh I think. He looked dangerous every time he was in/around the final third. First game cobwebs, once that final touch is sorted he will be decent. Son going away is his big chance, hopefully a few games in a row and we’ll start to see the best of him.

Looked slightly lightweight. I was hoping for a bit more spark. Hopefully it will come!

Just feel sometimes he tries too hard and should just slow down a tiny bit #COYS

I have high hopes for him but he wasn’t involved at all

Looks no better than N’Koudou. Massive improvement needed!

Hope Lamela is fit soon… I don’t think Lucas is a premier league type of player.

I thought he did okay. Gonna take time to bed. Coasting in Ligue 1 to opening day in the PL is a big ask.
