Tottenham Hotspur are in talks to sign Valencia midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia according to France Football.
The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Valencia from Inter Milan and the Spanish club have activated his release clause following an impressive spell in La Liga.
The France international made 31 appearances for Valencia, scoring four goals and assisting four, and averaged an impressive 88 per cent pass rate and 2.8 tackles per game.
Mousa Dembele has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane all summer and Spurs have been looking for a potential replacement, but the Belgian remains in Pochettino’s squad.
If Spurs want to sign Kondogbia, they will have to fork out a reported £72million, £50million more than Valencia just paid, as he has a new release clause which they will have to activate.
At this price he would become Spurs’ record signing and their fans have been reacting to the latest transfer link on social media.
Kondogbia is a beast. Pay the release clause and get it done @SpursOfficial

Only 25 too, hitting his prime with valuable top level experience. Flog Wanyama & have him as our main CDM.

In the current transfer market would €80m be excessive for him? Highly unlikely levy would spent it but is he that level of player?

80 million for a guy who can’t even get a sniff at the French National team, cool

Good player but worth 30-40 million at most. He had a great year at Valencia coming off two poor years at Inter. His technique is a huge question mark and he hasn’t shown himself to be a fantastic DM. If we are going to spend 80 mil, buy someone like Zaha, Dembele, Pulisic, etc.

Who? 80 million! Got to wonder why we’re willing to pay that sort of money for some guy in Spain over Zaha / Martial with proven PL experience

As if, there’s no way levy will pay that much for 1 player!
