Tottenham Hotspur are in talks to sign Valencia midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia according to France Football.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Valencia from Inter Milan and the Spanish club have activated his release clause following an impressive spell in La Liga.

The France international made 31 appearances for Valencia, scoring four goals and assisting four, and averaged an impressive 88 per cent pass rate and 2.8 tackles per game.

Mousa Dembele has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane all summer and Spurs have been looking for a potential replacement, but the Belgian remains in Pochettino's squad.

If Spurs want to sign Kondogbia, they will have to fork out a reported £72million, £50million more than Valencia just paid, as he has a new release clause which they will have to activate.

At this price he would become Spurs' record signing and their fans have been reacting to the latest transfer link on social media.
