Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has withdrawn from the England squad following a sustained minor muscle injury picked up in Saturday’s defeat to Spain, according to a tweet from the official England Twitter account.

Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to voice their frustration and concern over the 22-year-old’s withdrawal which could have an effect on Tottenham’s upcoming fixtures.

Alli, who has found the net once in Tottenham’s opening four Premier League fixtures this season, played the full 90 minutes in England’s opening UEFA Nations League match against Spain.

The 2-1 defeat to Luis Enrique’s new-look Spain side was not only Gareth Southgate’s first home defeat as head coach, but also England’s first competitive defeat at Wembley since a EURO 2008 qualifier against Croatia in November 2007.

Tottenham suffered their first loss of the 2018/19 Premier League campaign in their final match before the international break, as they were beaten 2-1 by high flyers Watford at Vicarage Road.

With an important fixture against Liverpool this weekend, Alli - who Transfermarkt value at £90million - could be a real miss for Mauricio Pochettino’s side if he's not fit enough to start.
