Tottenham Hotspur conceded twice in the latter stages of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Inter Milan to lose 2-1 at the San Siro.
Christian Eriksen’s effort early in the second period looked to be sending Tottenham to a huge three points in their opening match of the section.
However, Mauro Icardi levelled the scores in the 86th minute before Matias Vecino secured all three points for the home side in the 92nd minute of action.
It was a bitter blow for Tottenham, and it does not get any easier in Group B as their next clash in the section is against Spanish giants Barcelona.
There has been a lot of talk surrounding the fitness of Harry Kane in recent days, and the striker again struggled to make his mark in Italy.
The 6ft 2in ace looked tired whilst representing England on the international break, and that was again the case at the weekend as Tottenham lost 2-1 to Liverpool.
The Spurs fans were unhappy with Kane’s performance against Inter, and feel that now is the right time for the centre-forward – substituted late on in Milan – to be rested.
A selection of the Twitter reaction can be seen below:
That was so poor #THFC, what is happening to us? Terrible first half, and not much better in the second. Dier, aurier, lamela, Kane not good enough today. Poor

Erm…Not sure where to start. On a positive it was our best performance of the season. Kane needs to do the right thing and say he needs a break, Dier needs to give his golden ticket to someone else. #Aurier #Moura #Lamela gain some credit #THFC

Put basically, Kane isn’t even getting into positions to score!
Check out Daniel Sturridge’s goal just now & his movement IN THE BOX! Haven’t seen Kane do that at all so far this season! Not good enough!!
WE DONT LEAD FROM THE FRONT ANYMORE! #COYS #THFC pic.twitter.com/DiTisJStQE

Kane ain’t up to at the mo let’s be honest, he’s dropping too deep, movement poor and in front of goal no confidence! He needs to sit in the box like Van Nistlerooy and start putting them away. #COYS #THFC

Kane got into decent positions but definitely needs a game or 2 off #THFC

Kane shouldn’t be starting along with dier.
Would have rather had Llorente for that Inter game as he looked fitter in preseason than he did last season.
Gazza as well, granted Vorm made some fabulous saves in this game.#thfc
