Tottenham fans criticise Serge Aurier after Apoel Nicosia win

Tottenham Hotspur cruised to a 3-0 win against Apoel Nicosia in their final Champions League group game at Wembley on Wednesday night, but Spurs fans weren’t impressed with Serge Aurier in the victory.

The summer addition from Paris Saint-Germain has often seen Kieran Trippier start ahead of him in the Premier League this term, but the Ivory Coast international was handed a place in the XI against the Cypriot outfit with the north London outfit already guaranteed of top spot.

While the 24-year-old produced the assist for Fernando Llorente’s opening goal for the hosts with a low cross, he was also unfortunate not to be sent off for a poor challenge before he kicked the corner flag when he was already on a yellow.

Tottenham supporters were quick to have their say on his display via social media, and while one said he “needs to start focusing”, another said “we’re going to regret buying Aurier”.

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
