Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela is set to sign a new contract at the club according to Sky Sports journalist Gianluca di Marzio, as manager Mauricio Pochettino looks set to strike again.

The 26-year-old trickster joined Spurs from Roma in 2013 and has gone on to make 110 appearances for the club, scoring ten goals and registering 20 assists.

He has often struggled for a regular run of games due to injuries but when he plays he is often capable of creating moments of magic such as the wonderful rabona goal he scored against Asteras Tripoli in the Europa League.

He made most of his appearances last season from the substitutes' bench after recovering from back injury which had ruled him out for over a year.

Now according to Gianluca di Marzio, the Argentine is close to agreeing a contract extension with Spurs which could run until 2021 or 2022.

Spurs fans have been reacting to the news on social media and it's fair to say that fans are decided on the talented but inconsistent player.
