Davinson Sanchez made his World Cup debut in Colombia's clash with Japan on Tuesday afternoon, but it did not quite go to plan for the centre-back.

Indeed, a mistake from the 22-year-old led to Japan taking the lead from the penalty spot, and Colombia went on to lose their Group H opener 2-1, and the South American nation are now in trouble when it comes to making the knockout round.

Sanchez was impressive for Tottenham Hotspur last season, but it would be fair to say that there are still question marks over his concentration.

And the Tottenham fans were not exactly thrilled with what they saw from their defender during Colombia's clash with Japan.

Sanchez did recover from the early mistake to enjoy a decent game, but there were stages of the match where he looked very shaky in possession of the football - particularly under pressure.

The Spurs supporters are now concerned that the expected summer departure of Toby Alderweireld could place more pressure on Sanchez, who has become extremely popular with the club's fans in a relatively short space of time.
