Tottenham Hotspur fell to their first defeat of the Jose Mourinho era when they were beaten 2-1 by Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday, and it appears as though midfielder Harry Winks was one of the main talking points for fans in the aftermath of the loss.

The 23-year-old was certainly a favourite under previous manager Mauricio Pochettino having started nine of their opening 10 Premier League matches this season, despite having the likes of Moussa Sissoko, Christian Eriksen and Tanguy Ndombele for competition in the middle of the park.

The England international has started three out of the Portuguese's four at the helm thus far, including against the Red Devils.

It seems as though some supporters may not have been impressed with his display though, with some choosing to criticise the academy graduate on Twitter post-match.

One fan described him as being "clearly not good enough", while another believes he is "playing himself out of Jose's team".

That is probably a slight overexaggeration given he has played a big part in two of their three successes under Mourinho, and is clearly reliable in possession given he has a pass accuracy of 90.8% in the top flight this term, as per WhoScored.

Who is that?! Can you name all of these obscure Spurs signings? Give it a go now...

Others decided to focus more on the 23-year-old's partnership with Moussa Sissoko, with one fan believing he was overrun in midfield due to the France international covering Serge Aurier at right-back, and another saying the duo as a pairing "doesn't work" and "never will".

It certainly appeared to be a clear issue against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men, and one that Mourinho needs to sort sooner rather than later if Tottenham are to stop conceding so many goals - two in all of his matches in charge so far.

Another supporter came up with a potential solution to the talking point, saying that they would like to see their head coach hand summer addition Giovani Lo Celso a chance instead.

A lot of interesting points then, and it will be interesting to see who the 56-year-old selects when Spurs host Burnley on Saturday.

In other Tottenham news, the club is lining up a move for a 21-year-old centre-back...
