Tottenham suffered an early blow in the Premier League season with a frustrating 1-0 defeat against Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.

The Magpies claimed their first win under Steve Bruce thanks to a solitary goal from Joelinton as Spurs struggled.

Mauricio Pochettino's selection was an interesting one as it didn't include Jan Vertonghen or Christian Eriksen in the starting XI.

However, another concern was that of Davinson Sanchez who based on comments from supporters shouldn't have been playing over Vertonghen.

Fans took to Twitter to comment on his performance and the defensive situation at Spurs as one went as far as calling the Colombian a disgrace.

The 23-year-old was also branded average and awful by two other supporters whilst one individual offered a more thorough analysis, claiming he ball watches and doesn't track his man.

Throughout the game, Sanchez completed five tackles whilst also finishing the match with a pass accuracy of 90%.

Despite that, he didn't look overly comfortable and the fact so many supporters were keen to lay into him sums that up.

Here's some of the best reaction from social media after the game.
