Tottenham Hotspur’s summer purchase of Tanguy Ndombele means that there is pressure on Harry Winks when it comes to a starting role in Mauricio Pochettino’s first XI.
Winks was named in the starting side against Aston Villa on Saturday but interestingly it was the England international – rather than Ndombele or Moussa Sissoko – who was taken off to allow Christian Eriksen to enter the field.
Whether the 23-year-old will be a key feature of Spurs’ first XI this season or a player who dips in and out remains to be seen.
However, judging by the reaction of the club’s fans on social media, the midfielder has to start every week due to his unique skill set.
Indeed, Tottenham recently posted a clip of Winks in action against Villa at the weekend, which brought a strong response from the Spurs supporters on social media.
