According to FC Inter 1908, Tottenham Hotspur have failed in a loan move for Inter Milan attacker Joao Mario.
Mario spent last season on loan at West Ham United – scoring twice in 13 Premier League appearances for the Hammers.
It is understood that the London club turned down the chance to sign the 40-time Portugal international on a permanent deal this summer, but Inter still want to sell.
According to FC Inter 1908, Tottenham approached Inter with a loan bid for Mario, but the Italian giants rejected the offer as they want a permanent deal this summer.
The Tottenham fans have been reacting to the transfer speculation on social media, and it would be fair to say that they are not impressed.
Mario, who has recently been linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers, found it difficult to make his mark at West Ham last season, but he is a very experienced footballer on the international stage, and does have a lot to offer.
A selection of the Twitter reaction from the Tottenham fans can be seen below:

Do we even have a transfer strategy? Less than 4 weeks until first game of the season.

If we get De Ligt, Max Meyer and Rafinha or Rabiot; our business will be done. Being linked to Joao Mario is really sad, failed to show his worth at West Ham .
