As Arsene Wenger prepares to depart Arsenal after a period of decline which came after heavy investment in the Emirates Stadium, it has not escaped the Frenchman’s notice that the Gunners’ local rivals Tottenham are embarking on a similar project.
The idea behind the renovation of White Hart Lane is to give Spurs a sustainable footing on which to compete with the bigger spenders but Wenger knows from experience how the constraints of paying back the money for a new area can affect the transfer budget.
The Frenchman has sold off many of his best players in the modern era and as a parting shot, he has suggested that Mauricio Pochettino may be forced into a similar situation with regards Harry Kane if the finances start to bite in the new stadium.
Unsurprisingly, Spurs fans have not reacted too well, laughing off suggestions that their talisman may depart to raise funds…
@Arsenal ‘’Even to Arsenal maybe’’ yeah right 🤣
Don’t expect much with a tight budget of £50M
