Dimitar Berbatov turned out for Tottenham Hotspur between 2006 and 2008 after joining the London club from Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen.

Berbatov, who is now 37 years of age, managed 23 goals in his first season at Spurs, and matched that tally during the 2007-2008 campaign before leaving for Manchester United.

The centre-forward netted 56 goals in 149 appearances for United, and has since represented Fulham, Monaco, PAOK and Kerala Blasters.

Berbatov is currently without a club having left Kerala Blasters in March, but it is thought that the striker is not interested in retirement.

Tottenham paid just under £11m to sign Berbatov from Leverkusen, and there is no question that he was a success during his time at White Hart Lane.

A sensational footballer with one of the best first touches in Premier League history, Berbatov is still popular with the majority of the Tottenham fans.

And many have been on social media paying tribute to the Bulgarian.
