Tottenham fans lay into Eric Dier for European performance

Tottenham Hotspur booked their spot in the last-16 stage of the Champions League courtesy of a 4-2 win over Olympiacos on Tuesday night.

It is now seven goals in two matches for Spurs since Jose Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino as head coach last week.

Tuesday’s affair did not get off to a good start, though, as the home side found themselves 2-0 behind in the opening 19 minutes.

Mourinho decided to make a change in the 29th minute – introducing Christian Eriksen in place of Eric Dier, and things started to turn for the London club.

Dier has now started both of Spurs’ matches since the new manager came in, but the fact that the England international was replaced so early is not a good sign.

And despite their team going on to collect all three points, a number of the Tottenham fans have slammed Dier for his performance.

Dier nowhere to be seen for first goal when the goal came from his area where he should be. Looked sluggish and slow. Had to be done

Dier has been absolutely tragic in the last 2 games doesn’t make tackles or sprint back like winks. Only thing he’s good for is winning a couple of headers nowadays

It is funny how quickly things can change; indeed, many Tottenham fans hailed Dier for his display against West Ham United at the weekend.
