Tottenham fans on Twitter were fuming with Kieran Trippier’s performance in their 3-2 win over Wolves on Saturday evening, with many believing he was more at fault than youngster Juan Foyth for the two penalties that the Argentine conceded.
Spurs started the game brilliantly and took a 2-0 lead into the break thanks to goals from the much maligned Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura, the second after a fantastic Trippier cross, before Harry Kane looked to have made the result comfortable with his first league goal in five weeks.
However, Foyth initially fouled striker Raul Jimenez in the box after Trippier’s ill-advised nutmeg attempt was thwarted, and Ruben Neves duly dispatched the penalty with just over 20 minutes remaining. Wolves then had their tails up and were given another chance from the spot when Foyth this time pushed defender Jonny, who had run off the back of the England right-back, allowing Jiminez to convert.
Check out some of the best reaction to 28-year-old Trippier’s performance below.
Trippier deserves community service for his defending so far this season…all the post World Cup cobblers has gone to his head, he suddenly thinks he’s Marcelo

Things we learned from last night: This team has unbelievable character. So many attacking options. Sissoko growing every game (although lacks quality with final ball) and Trippier defensively just not good enough. How many times does he get caught under the ball? #COYS

Poch HAS to man up and drop Trippier and Davies, both complete liabilities

People will pan Foyth for the penalties but trippier abandoned him last night, needs benching for a few games to get his head right #coys

Are inability to see out a game will kill us, 3-0 Wolves dead & buried. Trippier try’s to be clever attempting a nutmeg & lands Foyth in it! Bring back Aurier please! As for LB, better LB out there we should target. Kurzawa, Tagliafico or Chilwell #THFC #COYS

Trippier on their 2nd penalty: just after he's finished berating Winks, he lets his man run off him & rather than tracking him, he sticks out a leg to try to cut out the pass. Foyth's left with a 2v1. The more I see the challenge by Foyth, the more I think it's soft as hell. pic.twitter.com/EXSBaup6sR
