England made it through to the semi-finals after beating Sweden 2-0 to set up a clash against Croatia with a potential final against either Belgium or France to play for.
Compared to the Three Lions’ previous encounter against Colombia where they were forced to wait until penalties to see them off, their contest against Sweden was carried out with relative ease.
Goals from Harry Maguire and Dele Alli secured the victory for Gareth Southgate’s men but they also had Jordan Pickford’s acrobatics to thank for.
Harry Kane had a quieter game, often dropping deep to make space for Raheem Sterling to run into, and he failed to add to his tally of six World Cup goals which still leaves him first in the race for the Golden Boot.
Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to the performance of their star man on social media and here’s a selection of some of their best comments.
He’s sacrificed it all for Sterling.

Genuinely can’t say I’ve seen anyone slagging off Kane or his performances throughout the tournament. If anything his popularity is through the roof – ‘goal’ at Stoke forgotten!

From a Spurs perspective, another fine performance from Kieran Trippier to add to his collection while Harry Kane put in another unselfish display up front. So many times others could have played him in but didn’t, while he always did. Dele Alli, 22, continuing his ‘poor season’.
