With temperatures below freezing and a rough and tumble League One team getting stuck into challenges, Wednesday evenings F.A. Cup tie between Tottenham and Rochdale did not seem like the type of game for a Brazilian to thrive in.
However, Spurs’ January signing Lucas Moura put in his best performance in the famous white shirt since his arrival from Paris Saint Germain.
The 25-year-old, who is valued at £25.2 million by Transfermarkt, was a constant menace for the Rochdale defence and set up goals for Fernando Llorente twice as Mauricio Pochettino’s men ran out 6-1 winners at Wembley.
It was a bizarre but eventually comfortable night for Spurs, who had two goals ruled out in the first half of the game through VAR.
However, Lucas Moura and co. eventually found their rhythm in the second period and put the tie to bed in some style.
After the game, Spurs fans took to Twitter to praise their new Brazilian maestro…
Walker-Peters replaces Moura. Very good performance from Lucas tonight.
