According to reports by ESPN FC, Tottenham Hotspur are considering activating an option to extend Erik Lamela’s £65,000-a-week contract by a further year, and Spurs fans have been quick to have their say on the rumour.
ESPN FC reports that the north London outfit are thinking about extending the Argentine winger’s current deal – which is due to run out in 2019 – by another 12 months following the 25-year-old’s successful return from more than a year on the sidelines because of problems with his hips.
Lamela started in his side’s 2-2 draw against Juventus in the Champions League on Tuesday night, although he has mainly been used as a substitute following his return to first-team action in November.
Tottenham supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on the story, and while one said “should be given 4-year deal”, another said “to be honest he is better than Son”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
Should be given 4 year deal

This is a no brainer. When Coco is healthy and on the pitch he injects adrenaline into the team and everyone feeds off of his energy. We would be foolish to not want more of that.

He deserves it.

Not sure what the debate is. Needs extending as long as Erik seems happy in London. Then needs a new contract imo
