Tottenham Hotspur will open their 2018-19 Champions League challenge with a trip to Inter Milan on Tuesday night.
Hugo Lloris and Dele Alli will both miss out through injury, whilst Spurs will also be without Kieran Trippier and Toby Alderweireld.
Neither Trippier nor Alderweireld are injured. Instead, the pair have been left out for “tactical reasons” in what is a surprising call from head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
The Tottenham fans have been reacting on social media, and it would be fair to say that the supporters are mixed when it comes to the news.
Tottenham made an impressive start to the 2018-19 campaign, but they have lost their last two Premier League matches to Watford and Liverpool.
A trip to Inter provides the perfect chance to bounce back, but it could also be a nightmare for the London club if they are not at their best.
A selection of the reaction from the Spurs fans in relation to the absence of Alderweireld and Trippier can be seen below:
I can understand Trippier, he can be rotated with Aurier and KWP can cover. Toby less so. New baby just arrived though, hope all’s ok there. We don’t help ourselves with radio silence.

Tripps needs rest. Toby didn’t have a good performance on Saturday.

Why would he not take Trips and Toby? That makes no sense.

Not fully in meltdown over Trippier and Alderweireld being left at home.
Sanchez and Aurier were always likely to play vs Inter anyway so don’t know what the big deal is.

Toby and Trippier not in the squad due to a technical decision!! What’s the mean?

2 World Cup Semi Finalists being left at home, nothing in it.
