According to reports in The Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur are expected to sell midfielder Mousa Dembele before the summer transfer window slams shut on August 9, and Spurs fans have been quick to react to the rumour.
The Evening Standard say that as things stand, with the Belgium international entering the final year of his contract with the north London outfit he will be sold, which their faithful will understand given he is 31 years of age and his best years may well be behind him.
However, the fact that Mauricio Pochettino is yet to sign a replacement – or anyone at all for that matter – is certainly worrying, given the midfielder has been a key cog in their team in recent seasons.
Tottenham supporters, some of whom have begged Daniel Levy to snap up a £58.5m attacker, took to social media to give their thoughts on the latest story, and while one said “sell him and bring Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio”, another said “we need a solid replacement”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
Sell him and bring Milinkovic Savic from Lazio. Massive move.
