Tottenham fans react as West Ham appoint David Moyes

West Ham United confirmed the appointment of David Moyes as their new manager on Tuesday, and fans of London rivals Tottenham Hotspur were quick to have their say on the news.

The Scot has signed a six-month contract and replaces Slaven Bilic, who was sacked on Monday with the club lying in 18th position in the Premier League table following the 4-1 defeat against Liverpool at the London Stadium on Saturday.

Just 10 days earlier Spurs surrendered a 2-0 goal lead to lose 3-2 to the Irons in the Carabao Cup fourth round at Wembley, but that result wasn’t enough to convince the board to keep Bilic.

Moyes takes charge of the Hammers following disappointing spells with Manchester United, Real Sociedad and Sunderland, who were relegated to the Championship under his leadership last term.

Tottenham supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on the appointment, and while one said he was “so happy”, another said the announcement must be “depressing” for West Ham fans.
