Zenit St Petersburg striker Artem Dzyuba has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur made an attempt to sign him during the January transfer window.

Indeed, speaking on Russia 24, via The Daily Mail, the 31-year-old said that "people" from Spurs had contacted him, but Zenit were not prepared to sanction a move before the transfer deadline passed.

As expected, the forward's words have led to a lot of Tottenham fans taking to social media, and a number believe that he would have been a good signing.

However, not all of the supporters share the same view.

Dzyuba has been in impressive form for Zenit this season, finding the back of the net on 13 occasions in 26 appearances, in addition to contributing 11 assists.

A true test for any Spurs fan: Can you match these iconic images with the right results?

Some of the Tottenham fans are not interested, though.

Meanwhile, another supporter accused the Russia international of having a "large ego" with the forward insisting that the Premier League club should have been more "insistent" if they really wanted to sign him.

In other news, a number of Tottenham fans have been predicting how their side will perform in their next three matches.
