Tottenham Hotspur announced on Tuesday afternoon that Dutch forward Vincent Janssen had undergone ‘minor foot surgery’.
Janssen spent last season on loan at Turkish club Fenerbahce having struggled to settle at Tottenham since joining the Premier League outfit from AZ in 2016.
The 24-year-old managed just two Premier League goals during his first season at Spurs, and was expected to leave the club in this summer’s transfer window.
However, Janssen’s operation will now almost certainly see him stay at Tottenham, and the club’s supporters have been reacting to the news on social media.

It would be fair to say that the responses were mixed, with many taking the chance to poke fun at the Netherlands international, but there were also those who wished him well.
Janssen might yet go on to forge a career at Tottenham, but for now the 6ft striker will be focused on building back to full fitness following the operation.
