Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that he wanted to sign Keita Balde when the attacker was at Lazio.
Balde scored 16 times in 31 Serie A appearances for Lazio during the 2016-17 campaign before joining Monaco in the summer of 2017.
The attacker netted eight times for Monaco last term, but is currently on loan at Inter Milan, and appeared against Tottenham in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Indeed, Balde was a second-half substitute as Inter came from behind to record a 2-1 win over the London club at the San Siro.
Pochettino revealed after the match that he has been following Balde since he was a youngster at Barcelona.
And had wanted to bring the attacker to Tottenham in the summer of 2017.

The Tottenham fans have been reacting to the revelation, and it would be fair to say that a number are frustrated.
A selection of the Twitter reaction from the club’s supporters can be seen below:
This is what happens when you don’t actually act on interest

Unfortunately McDonald’s vouchers from the metro in exchange were not acceptable and Lazio wanted money.

Interest isn’t good enough anymore. Interest doesn’t win games.

All of these interests mean nothing after the last window, i’m not getting my hopes up but at this point i’d gladly take anyone

I’m starting to think we won’t even sign anyone in January, it’s ridiculous trying to improve with Levy refusing to pay the kind of transfer fees and wages people expect now!
