According to Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham Hotspur have had an offer in the region of £45m rejected by Ajax for Netherlands midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

De Jong was strongly linked with a move to Barcelona during the summer transfer window, but Ajax managed to retain the services of the midfielder.

It is widely thought that the 21-year-old will move on next summer, however, and Tottenham have recently been credited with an interest.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham made an offer in the region of £45m for the Dutchman, but that was rejected fairly quickly.

De Jong was in action for Netherlands against France in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday night, and there is no question that he is a very impressive talent.
