Throughout the summer transfer window, Tottenham were linked with a move for Everton’s Ross Barkley.
The 24-year-old has yet to feature for the Toffees this season, and his contract at Goodison Park expires in the summer.
In addition to sustained interest from the North of London, Barkley has reportedly been interesting the current Premier League champions, Chelsea.
At the age of 24, it is entirely logical to suggest that Barkley has yet to reach the pinnacle of his footballing abilities. Moreover, with the greatest respect to Everton, they don’t flaunt a squad that possesses the same quality as Spurs or Chelsea, and it is likely that Barkley could find a new level at a team of greater repute.
Here’s how the Spurs fans have reacted to the rumours on Twitter…

I’d love to see Ross Barkley play under Pochettino at #Spurs. He’s one of the rawest talents we’ve seen in England for years, who’d surely thrive under the Argentine’s coaching.

Just in time to join Spurs ahhhhh yes best scouser since gerrard. Henderson has pictures of barkley on his wall and cries himself to sleep every night knowing he’ll never reach his level
