Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier has been forced to withdraw from the England squad for their upcoming internationals with United States and Croatia.

Trippier picked up a groin problem during Tottenham's 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The right-back did link up with his Three Lions teammates ahead of the clash with United States on Thursday, but has now been sent back to his club.

Tottenham are already without the services of defenders Danny Rose and Jan Vertonghen, and news of Trippier's issue is a blow.

It is currently unclear whether the £35,000-a-week defender will be fit for Tottenham's Premier League clash with capital rivals Chelsea after the international break.

The Spurs supporters are hopeful that will be the case, however, and many have been on social media reacting to the setback.
