Tottenham fans slam Sol Campbell following his comments on Oxford United rejection

The relationship between Tottenham fans and Sol Campbell is perhaps one of the most toxic in football.

After doing the unthinkable and joining Arsenal directly from Spurs in 2001, Campbell was the subject of years of hatred from the White Hart Lane faithful.

And despite his retirement almost seven years ago, Campbell is still an immensely unpopular figure with Tottenham supporters.

Since he retired from playing, Campbell has been accumulating his coaching qualifications and has been on the hunt for a managerial role in England since leaving his position as assistant coach at Trinidad and Tobago.

The 43-year-old was interviewed for the vacant managerial position at League One Oxford United last week but the club decided against hiring the former England international.

Speaking to an Arsenal podcast after the rejection, Campbell stated;

“I’m intelligent enough, it’s not like I played on a fox and dog pitch all my life. I can’t believe some people, I’m one of the greatest minds in football and I’m being wasted because of a lack of experience or ‘maybe he talks his mind too much'”.

Upon hearing Campbell’s self-confident comments, Spurs fans took to Twitter to slam the former player, who they still affectionately refer to as ‘Judas’…
