Tottenham Hotspur conceded twice in the latter stages to suffer a 2-1 defeat to Inter Milan in their Champions League opener on Tuesday night.

Christian Eriksen sent Spurs ahead in the 53rd minute, but Mauro Icardi levelled the scores in the 86th minute before Matias Vecino netted a second for Inter late on.

Tottenham played in a 4-3-1-2 formation in Milan, with Erik Lamela operating behind the front two of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

Lamela was certainly dangerous in possession of the ball, and there is no question that Inter were concerned by his movement and cuteness in forward positions.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino decided to replace Lamela in the 72nd minute, however, with Harry Winks introduced.

And the decision to substitute Lamela did not go down very well with the Spurs fans.

Tottenham have now lost their last three matches in all competitions, and a number of the club's supporters are very frustrated indeed.
